A Lady's Charm: A Series

Hello, darlings!

I've created a new series on the blog - A Lady's Charm - a multiple part foray into all of the elements that make we gals beautiful, charming, and reflect the height of grace and style.

Part One - Scent!

A part of a lady's charm is what perfume she chooses to wear. Her scent can evoke a plethora of moods, transport anyone to anyplace imaginable in just a few spritzes!

However, the building blocks must be in place to create such a signature.

Starting with a quality perfumed talc provides an anchor for whatever scent you want to create. The scent ranges are usually light, and sold with a liquid scent that matches it.

A personal favorite is Chantilly, a wonderful blend of neroli, bergamot and lemon; carnation, jasmine, ylang-ylang, rose, orange blossom, leather, tonka bean, musk, benzoin, oakmoss, vanilla and sandalwood, introduced in 1941.

The scent is a little heady, without it being overly so. I usually pair it with the matching perfume, and I find it lends itself well to others, such as White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor.

In addition to the lovely aromatic payoff, talc bottles, especially vintage ones or modern reproductions, have beautiful details like golden script or soft pastels, and to me that just perpetuates glamour!

Tell me, dear readers, what are some of your favorite scent combinations?

Until next time,
